Does Skills Influence Worlds Waitlist?

So I know that skills plays somewhat of a role in qualifying you for worlds through the waitlist. But how exactly? Some people have told me that it all matters about how high you are ranked in the state. Then your individual state will decide how to shell out remaining worlds tickets. I have also heard that the REC directly decides who gets tickets based on worldwide rankings.

Hypothetically speaking, if a team were ranked like 51st in skills in the world. They wouldn’t get an automatic qualification, but would their rank boost their ability to get in through the wait list?

I am following this. This might be a good question for the official Vex Worlds channel

A little late to the party, but I was curious how teams are put on the waitlist for worlds? Do you have to email someone and formally request to be put on it or are you automatically put on it if you don’t qualify at a state/regional tournament?

You have to manually register your team with a robot events account in the wait list section of the worlds event page, it is based off how long a team has been on the wait list

This is also logistical problem. If the team has to be added the day before the event it’s going to be a local team. I think they’re going to want teams to show up just for the hope of making off the waitlist. I also don’t think they have an official policy on this, but they act in the best interest.
