Does the intake have to be relied on chains and intake rollers or it can be some other sort of mechanism?

Most robot reveals on Youtube always show the intake having intake rollers on a chain and scoops up the disk along the robot. I was wondering if that could be simplified and get the disk to the flywheel faster.

The mechanisms vary depending on where the the flywheel is located on the robot.

In response to your initial question:

Does the intake have to be relied on chains and intake rollers or it can be some other sort of mechanism?

No, it doesn’t have to be. A lot of people are using this method for the time being because the flywheel is elevated and not inline with the intake. You are welcome to try other methods (because all robots must accurately represent the skills of the team), but this is currently seeming to be the most efficient method.

What he said. Also, given that the discs slide across the field pretty easily… you’re gonna have to power them into the bot… don’t see them just sliding up a ramp on their own.
