My new team’s robot was a wiring nightmare this year, and swapping motors was aweful since we had to go through our “jungle” of wires. This was mainly because for all the motor controllers, we connected the 3 pin end directly to the cortex, so all motor controllers were clustered in one area. Is it possible to connect the 3 pin end of the MC to another extension cable and connect that to the cortex without damaging the cortex and motor controllers? Thanks in advance.
Can do. Just not a Y cable to a Y cable. I would split the load, 1-5 is one group performing 1 role(ISH) and 6-10 doing something else. Dont forget 1 and 10 are 2 wire only…
Yes, you can use wires between the MC29 and the cortex, however this is from the product page:
Note: We recommend using no more more than one (1) 3-Wire extension cable in between the Motor Controller 29 and a VEX Microcontroller. For longer extensions, use 2-Wire extension cables in between the Motor Controller 29 and a VEX 2-Wire motor.
It’s also generally a good idea to keep sensor wires and motor wires bundled separately to avoid the possibility for interference.
yup. you can do that.
