Hi,
I just started college this year, and my university has a fairly new VEX U team I was thinking of joining. Out of curiosity, I was looking at robotevents.com and noticed that there are only 3 VEX U events in the United States, one of which is in Indonesia (probably mislabeled I assume?) and none of the awards from the other two appear to qualify you for any higher level competition. Based on this I am led to believe that VEX U simply doesn’t exist anymore in the US. Is this true? Thanks.
VEXU still exists. It takes some time for the events to get posted. Most universities just got back in session. Be patient.
even better, from what I’ve been gathering, VEXU seems to be growing by a large amount this year compared to other recent years
VEX U is still alive and well, as Foster stated universities are just starting school and will take a bit to get events posted. As you pointed out, most events don’t have qualifying awards for worlds, I’m personally unsure of the reason for that but it’s very common with VEX U events. Most qualifying awards seem to occur at events marked qualifiers or signature events. The most consistent way to attend worlds for VEX U in my opinion is through skills, as the top 10 in skills by the end of the season will qualify and every open spot out of the 100 slots for worlds will go down the worlds skill standings for invites. A new thing this year is that the top 5 in VEX U skills by December 31st will also be invited for worlds, so make sure you get skills in. If there aren’t any VEX U events near you, skills scores can also be posted at regular VRC events, just make sure to reach out to the event partner beforehand to coordinate
