@jpearman is there any way to downgrade a V5 brain to VEXos 1.0.9?
Why would you want to do that ?
There’s a team competing at our scrimmage tomorrow who just updated from 1.0.9 and it broke their auton.
So there’s no official way to downgrade, also, if the V5 brain was downgraded the motors and sensors would not be. What broke ? I can’t see what we would have changed that would affect how an autonomous ran.
in addition, although it would not apply to a scrimmage, when competing in an official event.
R22(b) says
b. Teams must use the latest official VEXos firmware updates, found at www.vexrobotics.com.
@aryan.pradhan could answer that for you.
Is there… an unofficial way?
I suspect that updating the firmware was not what caused an autonomous to stop working. I wouldn’t know for sure, but I wouldn’t think any functions change between firmware updates.
There’s really no point.
I just checked and between 1.0.9 (Dec 2019) and 1.0.12 (Aug 2020) we updated the following sensors and devices.
inertial
radio
controller
distance
optical
We would not have checked for any compatibility for sensors on the firmware in 1.0.12 and brain firmware 1.0.9 (although in general, sensors on updated firmware will tend to work with older V5 brains), especially for the distance and optical sensors which were still in development at that time.
Hello, I didn’t want to start another thread and this might have something to do with firmware so it kind of applies.
Recently we received a new controller because we finally wore out our old one. Since getting it we have been having a bunch of problems that make working on a program a pain. Some of the things that have been happening are:
- Weird things happening to the display -
Pictures
Here are some of the screen results that I remembered to take pictures of.
It has happened a lot more times, and as far as we can tell it does it at random intervals.
- VEXcode Pro v5 not recognizing the controller as connected
Problem
VEXcode Pro V5 does not show that the brain is connected via the controller when we are doing wireless downloading. And when it does show that they are both connected it will just give me a download error.
- Controller will not connect
Problem
The controller will not connect to the brain on the robot wirelessly after trying to download the program or just sitting there.
- Controller freezes
Problem
Sometimes when I go into the program and run the code it will count down from three like normal and then freeze and not run anything, then the program name will disappear from the top of the screen. After that all happens the only way to get the controller to turn off is to reset it.
The two things I think it could be are:
- The firmware has a bug or didn’t update correctly
- The controller is bad
These problems have been happening to a couple other people in our area as well so I don’t think that the controller is bad. Any help would be appreciated!
(Sorry about hijacking this thread @Sylvie)
sounds like a bad controller to me.
Okay, I was hoping not, thank you
