On a smooth surface, you’ll need traction. It seems counterintuitive to add weight, but it would help with the coofecient of friction. Also, figure out what gear ratio works best for you. I used a 1:7 393 ratio for mine, and did pretty well. What are the specific project constraints? Motor limit? Parts restrictions? Battery size?
