Well think of this you are going to want your CG (center of gravity) of your robot to be as low as possible. If you where to make the Max height of your robot abut 12 inches a six bar would not reach high enough. If you go for a RD4B you can keep your CG low but yet get plenty of height to score the caps. Personally after building all forms of lifts I much rather build a small reverse lift rather than a large standard bar lift ( 4 6 or 8 bar).
Why would you impose that extra burden on yourself? It’ll only limit you and give yourself an extra disadvantage that other teams wont have. I can understand lowering your CG, but at 18" you wont tip over.
I really think you should go with the schtick design if you want to win worlds.
