My drivetrain randomly started to drift after about 3 weeks. any ideas on what it could be? (btw, all the weight on the robot is evenly distributed and is built symmetrically.Hers pictures of the bot/drivetrain.
It doesnt seem like your wheels are connected very well from the top angle.
they are. the angle of the photo was weird
try to have another plate on the outside of the wheel to make sure the alignment is perfect and it also keeps everything clean and limits getting caught up on field elements.
Its really difficult to suppress drifting, I would check to make sure both sides are as equal as possible. Try removing the motors and seeing which side is smoother and which side isn’t as smooth
the wheels will have camber, which is bad for omni wheels. @thedudeJose is right. if the wheels have camber, the omni wheels will bounce up and down, causing the robot to not go straight.
After three weeks, the plastic beams probably got grinded by the metal shafts, causing the camber in the first place.
