After the latest firmware update of motors, robot brain, and controller, it appears that the outputs of the motors are reversed. This applied to all drive and claw motors with the clawbot build. The “reverse” option is the drive config does not correct for this, as the “reverse” option also switches which ports control the left and right drives (i.e., after reversing, the left joystick controls port 6, and the right controls port 1)
j_johnso,
The latest firmware update works to make sure “forward” on the motor (per the arrow on the case) matches the direction in the firmware. We believe this was correct in the 1.01 firmware also.
Have you updated the firmware inside your motors? It is possible that mis-matched versions of firmware can result in odd behavior.

The firmware on the motors was updated as well. The firmware update tool shows that the controller, robot brain, and all motors are up-to-date with both kits that I have tested with.
With one kit, the firmware was updated first, the clawbot drive base was assembled, then tested and was found to be reversed.
With the other kit, a clawbot was fully assembled with claw mechanism, and functioning in normal direction prior to the release of the firmware update. After updating the firmware of all components, the 2 drive motors and 2 claw motors were reversed.
There is a bug in the 1.02 firmware. We will be updating to 1.03 shortly with a fix to this issue. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Firmware version 1.03 has been posted and should solve this issue. Run the firmware updater and let us know if there are any more issues!
