Attached is an image of one of the shafts in the drivetrain. We want to ideally put a shaft collar on it to stabalize it, but the shafts length is too small to be affected by the shaft collar. Any ideas on what to do?
How about using a longer shaft.

Looks like there is a gear behind the wheel. So, could you simply use a long screw instead of a shaft?

I think you are referring to a bearing flat? Usually teams tackle this low profile by shaving down the side of one of those black bearing flats with a sander so that you can fit it in that tight region. By the looks of things you already have a shaft collar, which is a +1. Just ensure to have a bearing flat so you don’t have metal on metal action.
