Duel Air Tank Setups

So my team and I are fairly new to using pneumatics and its our first year using them in general. We currently have 2 air tanks and were wondering what were the possible ways of connecting them together and what are the benefits from it since Ive seen probably 2 designs only and they don’t say much about it.

Hi! There are two ways that I know of to setup the air tanks. One is having them each control individual pistons, and you could have one tank for controlling the wings, and another for a blocker. This is especially useful if you have to do a climb at the end because you want to make sure your reservoirs are full to get enough power to climb.

Another option is to connect the two reservoirs together with tubing, and that’s what we did for our current robot. This way you could split the air to multiple pistons and have a lot of air for the entire match. You won’t be able to get a lot of power though if you have used up a lot of air from both reservoirs, and this may be a problem if you are trying to do a climb with pistons.

Overall, you could just use each reservoir individually, which is useful if you need a lot of power at the end of the game. You could also tube the reservoirs together allowing you to have a lot of air for the entire match.

I hope this helps!

We have 2 pistons for wings and 1 piston for endgame on our bot. In order to get the most use out of the air, we have one tank connected to one wing and we have the other tank connected to the other wing and endgame, since endgame is only going to be used once. That way, we can use our wings for a long time throughout the match. Hope this helps
