easyc V4 for Cortex Downloading Problems

Hey all, I have been trying to update all my microcontrollers and new joysticks with the easyC v4, I have downloaded the program and that went without trouble. However, when I go to do the firmware update, the computer has trouble detecting the microcontrollers and joysticks.

It takes awhile to be able to do that, but once I am able to do that, I attempt to tether the microcontroller and the joystick via the cable to sync them. And on the joystick the vexNet light shines green, but on the microcontroller, the LED doesn’t light at all. And then trying to use it wirelessly, the VexNET light flashes orange :frowning:

I am just having a lot of trouble with upgrading all of this firmware, is there any resources I could look at?

On another system, the joystick wouldn’t download the program wirelessly to the microcontroller after completing all the steps.

Download firmware first, then program code.
Some problems can be resolved by using a paperclip to access the reset button.
When syncing joystick to cortex, connect while both are off, then turn them on at the same time.
Post what versions of each code you are using.

If you are doing this in a school environment, wireless may not work if there is a Cisco Infrastructure Ad-hoc network blocker in operation. If it works at home, but not at school, you can use the MAC-address reader tool to get a list of the MAC addresses in all your vexnet keys, then turn it in to your school IT support and ask that they be added to the “white-list”.
