Well “always” was only once, and there was no fallout to deal with, no doubt  due to my “commanding presence” It was fairly clear in the game rules that it is the responsibility of the host to reset the field, not the competing teams. The competing team’s only recourse is to point out potentially bad setups to ref, who makes a judgement call about re-setup or run as is.
The case in point concerned Gobs spaced 12+/-1" apart, and their robot had a triple grip manipulator with 12" spacing. I suspect their concern over spacing was theoretical rather than practical.
To get back on topic of elevator designs, I’ve done most of my thinking about the college field setup, where there are multiple opportunities to reach across a fence or gateway, and all the goals are 31(+0/-2)" tall. This may lead to differences in elevator/lift/manipulator designs for the college game.
For Roundup, the higher college wall goals led to different lift designs capable of 30" reach. The “6-bar” lift (ref AURA) is one that is reused on Gateway for HS teams to reach their single 30" goal.
