I am building a elevator lift with the help of my team using the image above, but for the life of us we cannot figure how to attach the claw. We would appreciate some help with this.

I think in this specific case it uses a special tank tread part, the one that has two holes on either side.

Simply inserting a screw in the hole between two chain links and adding a spacer works. In my experience, however, it might damage the chain link a little bit. It’s also not the most stable method to do so, but it does work.
