One time, when tried to run our program a random, yet unsolvable error appeared on the brain screen. It turned out to be that the brain was not updated, because we were not plugging in the brain directly to the computer, rather we were plugging the controller in and downloading it through the controller. So my suggestion is to see if your brain is updated, then try resetting to factory settings, then you might try to hard reset your battery and remote through the button. Hope this helps!

Just plug the brain directly into the PC using a USB cable. VEXcode should detect that assets are invalid and offer to update it. If that doesn’t work for any reason, grab the V5 Firmware Utility from here.
Make sure only one VEX program is open at any one time when doing the update.
