EVENT PARTNER NEWSLETTER Thanks for an Amazing Season!
As the 2017-18 kicks into high gear, we would like to take a moment
to thank our Event Partners for an excellent 2016-17 season with a
record 1,480 events across the United States and internationally!
What’s more, our new season offers you two new fantastic games - http://www.roboticseducation.org/competition-teams/current-game-information/ that promise to be much less build and set-up time and much more
fun. With VEX IQ Challenge Ringmaster and VEX Robotics Competition In
the Zone, our Game Design Committee took your feedback into
thoughtful consideration and developed two games that offer faster
set-up, are easy to transport, and should work well throughout the
competition season. The REC Foundation encourages you to work with
your Regional Support Manager to begin planning your season and
scheduling your events!
2017-2018 Fee Changes
The REC Foundation remains committed to providing valuable
programming and resources to our teams and partners. As our programs
grow, it becomes much more expensive to support the expanding network
of teams and events. To continue to bring teams the type of resources
they’ve come to expect, and improve our ability to respond to the
growing community of over 20,000 teams and thousands of events, it is
necessary to increase fees to provide those services.
We are proud that our team registration fees remain one of the lowest
of any robotics programs offered, and that we will be able to
continue to offer a $50 discount for all additional teams from
schools and organizations. We will continue to work hard to ensure
our programs are the best value available; meaning high quality,
affordable, accessible, and sustainable.
Similarly, RobotEvents.com will now include a flat $5 fee per
registration for events this year. This new fee structure will still
not cover all the costs of site maintenance, enhancements,
processing, and accounting, but it will enable the REC Foundation to
continue to make enhancements to the RobotEvents.com website and
provide a better experience for all our teams and partners using the
site. This fee will also include/cover/replace the 3% transaction fee
that was previously taken out of team payments (it will not be in
addition to that charge).
We encourage our Event Partners to build this into their event fees
for the coming season. The REC Foundation continues to lead the
industry as the most affordable program of its kind and with record
growth, improvements must be made to ensure our program succeeds for
years to come!
EP Summit July 10-14, 2017!
The annual Event Partner Summit is set for July 10-14, 2017, in
Louisville, KY! It was a great event last year featuring lots of new
game information, program detail, planning to prep for the season, as
well as some entertainment. So, please consider joining us in
Louisville and fill out the 2017 Event Partner Summit Interest Form - 2017 Event Partner Summit Interest Form today. Completion of the form will help us gauge attendance and
begin planning the sessions. Space is limited and interested EPs will
be contacted in the coming months with more information on how to
register for the Summit. Please contact your Regional Support Manager
with any specific questions about the Summit.
Regional Summits with RSMs!
The spring and summer is also a great time of year to speak to your
Regional Support Manager about organizing and meeting locally for a
Regional Event Partner Summit! It’s a great opportunity for Event
Partners from a region or state to get together and discuss how they
will approach the upcoming season, and begin planning out the fall
and winter season calendar. A lot of great learning and sharing of
ideas and information can happen, even among a small group of
partners. Your Regional Support Manager can be a great resource to
help kick-start the process, so learn more about the opportunities
available and contact your RSM today!
