EXP Bluetooth not advertising ServiceUUID

The EXP brains have bluetooth built in, and follow the same connection handshake as the V5 with a radio. However, the EXP does not appear to include the Service UUID (08590f7e-db05-467e-8757-72f6faeb13d5) in its advertisement.

I can connect to the EXP brain and can then see that the service is available, but that means I have to do a generic scan for all bluetooth devices. In a classroom with 20 students (each with phones, earbuds, watches, etc etc etc) the list of bluetooth devices is extensive.

Please update EXP’s bluetooth advertisement to behave like the V5 brain.

EXP does work a little differently from V5, but connection tools can usually still filter, for example, here is a web ble demo I use and it just shows an EXP brain despite there being numerous BLE devices in my house. We have other products also using BLE, IQ Generation 2, GO, 123, they all advertise in a way that we can differentiate between them.

In any case, the BLE is primarily for VEXcode on iPad and Android so I’m not expecting any changes as that would break compatibility with our own applications.

Thanks for the response. I understand the importance of not breaking existing tools. My request was for an addition not a change/removal – add a little more detail in the bluetooth advertisement.

Either way, now at least the differences have been shared.
