So in the last 15 second you get 3 points for every tile your on. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for expanding things. I don’t think I can fit a scissor lift on and It has to touch the ground. I was thinking about a motor that would unroll treads to be able to cover alot of ground but idk how to not trigger that during a match. Any other ideas?
I thought about this, but I realized that it’s not all that effective for a couple reasons. First of all, tread is extremely prone to snapping. A robot drives over it and the tread may break apart which would mean that you’ve now detatched a part from your robot. Secondly, tread is not all that flexible, meaning that you can only unroll the tread at a straight angle with very minor deviations. This works well in skills when there’s no robots to impede your path, but in a match, if you’re weaving your endgame mechanism, you likely want it to be flexible so that you can turn and circumvent your opponents who might be getting in your way. Mesh also suffers from the same issue from what I can think of, so really if you wanted to unroll something it seems like it might have to be made of string or rubber bands since those are both objects that can flex in all directions without having to give up surface area by twisting.
You might want to pay attention to the game manual as it is explicitly stated that the Endgame is the last 10 seconds.
I was thinking about an expansion wall type thing, something similar to the walls that were made in changeup, (Prototype 12ft Wall & Strategy - VEX Change Up Reveal - YouTube) but i want to create a compact bot, and doubt that it will fit. Our team also had a couple ideas for something similar to a 2 way scissor lift with 1 motor, but that also takes up a lot of space, requires a lot of torque (Vex Tower Takeover Wallbot Reveal and Custom Linear Slides - YouTube) and the bot can already cover 4 tiles, which is 12 points. In my opinion it would be better to start focusing on how you are going to shoot/intake discs, and once you have that down a late season expansion mech may be feasible.
Do you know if the motor and pnumatics limitation is 8 motor and two pistons. Or 8 motors and one piston. Because then I might have an idea based on the rubber band thing to make a rubber band scizzor lift and have pnuematics release it in the last 10 sec. like this video VEX Robotics - Glorious Rubber Bands - YouTube
Feel free to ask any questions you have after you have read the manual:

That is definitely in the game manual.
Too.
Slow.
couldn’t find it at first but thats for the support
Keep in mind that the manual only tells you want you can’t do. If it doesn’t specify a limit on the number of pistons, then there’s not a limit on pistons. Likewise on motors, pneumatic reservoirs, etc.
R17 in the game manual will give your answer. But to clarify, you are limited to one piston inside each air cylinder (modification of air cylinders is illegal per R20), but no limit on the number of air cylinders.
That’s is actually really good. Thank you!
Just to clarify the only limit on number of pneumatics is you can only have 2 reservoirs per robot each pumped to 100 psi.
