Faster Drivetrain

Hello Forum,
My team just went to our first comp this season and we realized that out robot is extremely slow. we are currently running 55w 200rpm direct to 2.75" wheels. our initial idea was to switch from 200rpm to 600rpm cartridges but we dont have a way to attach the 5.5w motors. Im worried about 4 motors running 600rpm so i guess my questions is: How can we make it faster without the motors overheating? Also feel free to give tips on the rest of the bot.

200 rpm 2.75 in direct drive is 28 in/sec
That’s really slow (but a lot of torque!)

600 rpm 2.75 in direct is 84 in/sec
That’s really fast
I would recommend gearing that down 36:48

But to answer your question about the 5.5w motors, you have to gear them up in a 3:1 ratio and attach that to the drivetrain. I believe @lucas017 did something like this, maybe lucas could you show usa pic?

Thanks for the idea, I think we are going to run 36:48 4 motor drive. with regards to gearing up the 5.5w, we dont have space and aren’t familiar with gearing above the wheels.

Here’s the cad I just threw together for it, I found @lucas017 's post about gearing up the 5.5w and incorporated it. Thank you so much for your help
