Is a 1:5 speed ratio viable for a vex iq robot and if so how small would the robot need to be? Do you guys think it would work this season?
Its all about torque. A 4 motor 5:1 has to the torque of a 2 motor 2.5:1. However, you would need a light robot.

if the gear ratio is too high, it could be very hard to drive the robot(this is the same problem that i expeirienced. or you could use four motors and put a high gear ratio on.
