This is a poll to see your favorite vex games.
did you have to play in a game to vote for it?
I mean, we kind have already done this poll a couple months ago, Favorite Vex Game - #26 by Robo_Eng_13 . I know this is different enough because of Tower Takeover, but let’s see how this compares to that poll
I still stand that Gateway had the most strategy, yet made a fun game.
Gateway, all the way. That game was phenomenal.
It’s very hard to give an opinion on my favorite VEX game, especially considering that every single game in the past 4 years have not been perfect (You can even see me changing my opinion while I was typing this). This is my opinion, so it’s okay if you disagree with me
I liked the setup for Turning Point, but the fact that the entire game was unbalanced, and that the entire game can sway the other direction within 5-10 seconds give or take made me quite saddened to see that many deserving teams lost.
I really loved the setup for in The Zone, especially since you are messing with heavy game elements with a more unique way, but the problem I got from the game was that every single team had the same exact robot. Of course there were some exceptions, but the great majority was all just one single type of robot. The rules were complicated as well.
Starstruck was extremely fun, and was by far the best swing game I have experienced. There were very unique designs at worlds and the game was really well-balanced (Despite the hanging pole of course. The hanging pole was extremely under balanced and nobody used it in Round Robin). Of course there was the fragile stars, but the very simple mechanics of it, the ease of driving, and the satisfactory feel of dumping large amounts of stars and cubes makes it my favorite.
Nothing But Net is when I had mixed emotions. The game elements were fragile and the nets were fragile too. Although I did not like the fact that the entire field gets cleared with ease I will admit that it makes certain of the most competitive alliance to win. Although I love the speed of the shots and the importance of programming of the game, I found it to be extremely repetitive and it usually would get boring quick.
not at all, vote for whatever you want
I have a strong attachment to Starstruck. My team (including me) basically did nothing and somehow made it to Regionals with a pushbot. The night before, I took apart the entire robot and made a catapult. I ended up being second at the comp.
Not enough people here even played gateway… or Sack attack …
What about Round Up or Clean Sweep? I did both that’s why
Clean sweep was my first year, did not enjoy it. Round up was ok, it was broken because the sand tower could be picked up once full and placed inside to prevent de-scoring and scoring from hang, which happened at pretty much every tournament in WI. Gateway was the first year for me to experience something different every event.
What is it with all these normies choosing TP. It is a bad game guys
I have watched a couple of the game reveals and I honestly thought that Gateway looked like the best. Turning Point was a lousy game! Even though it was my first. But Turning Point got even worse with the V5 disaster. So Gateway all the way.
You kids that like starstruck need to square up
bruh, starstruck is the uncontested best game. you can’t square up if i’m on the other side of the fence
How is a game plagued by static and elements that break considered the best? Not to mention the EXTREME lack of robot diversity.
one reason.
the hoard bot
this is one of my favorite memories from VEX, and Starstruck was my most enjoyable game. I hardly had pieces break in matches but yeah i know it was a problem. However, most games have static problems so you can’t down Starstruck too much cause of that as well as for bot diversity, that’s more of the community. But that’s all my opinion, Grant.
The list is missing Hanging Around
Wow… I’m really surprised so many people voted for Turning Point, like wow.
Turning point is the only game I know of, but tbh it probably wasn’t the best I didn’t like the scoring and descoring being combined into the same thing, where if you scored, you were also descoring the opponent.
I like TT more since there’s descoring, but at the same time there’s the stacks that cant be descored.
Starstruck just sucked. It was so simple and required no real creativity. Once someone introduced the idea of a claw dumper, everyone copied that design. Then it just became a competition of who could build the biggest claw. It was fun to play because it was so simple, but in terms of learning new concepts, I think it was the worst.
Turning Point is undoubtedly my favorite game. Even though the game was unbalanced with the flags vs caps dilemma, it was fast paced and I love that in a game. There was constant action on the field, and decision making was so important. If a team made the wrong choice and parked 3 seconds too early, they lost. That’s why I love Turning Point. It teaches how to think under pressure, it was fun to play, and had so many different designs.
