With Worlds and next season’s game coming in less than a week, I thought it would be nice to talk about all of the funny/quirky things that happened this season. What’s yours?
We ran into a team that loaded the wrong autonomous… paired with the Vex Net system dying for everybody but that team. A few laughs were had:
when a team had a 15 come stack on a mogo in the 10 point, and we were losing badly, but in the final 10 seconds, they attempted to stack on more cone and doing so accidentally descored 8 cones one by one.
My favorite part though was when the other team tries to block me at 2:04:03.
Nobody realized what was happening (including me, the ref, and the other team) until the mc was practically shouting at us.
Here’s mine. Our autonomous ran incorrectly and as a result got stuck on the stationary goal. We spent a good part of the match trying to get off of it, but only scratched the heck out of the stationary goal in the process. VCAT vs WPI1 QF 1-1 - YouTube
when someone made an auton to sabotage ours but we still score a cone so we won and in the middle of celebrating the mobile base yeeted the cone straight off itself. I have a video of it but forums are gay and won’t let me post it.
Every year, I think we need some college-level research done on the physics of VEX game objects.

(If the mogo didn’t fall off it would have counted as two because the cone doesn’t touch the robot)

In a quarterfinals match when we flipped a mobile goal on its side from outside the zone into the 10 point zone upright.
When @20rzaugg suicide tipped into our opponents five point zone and a random kid from the audience yelled “They did the kamikaze”. Wish I’d gotten a video of it.
During the U.S open we had a alliance with a kid on the team tasting the liquid out of a air duster. They went on to tip over on purpose and knock a 3 cone stack on the stationary off and cost us the match. It was ok though because we were not doing good anyway and they where funny.
In the second match of the finals (we won the first match), we were winning by a large margin. In the last few seconds, our alliance partner tipped over and knocked down all of our cones.

Looking back on it, this match was really funny
Later that tournament, I dropped a cone as the match buzzer sounded, and it landed after the match was over since my lift was all the way up. It wasn’t match deciding, since we won by a very large margin, but it was still pretty cool
