Can one of these controllers be used as a steering motor driver with position feedback like in an RC servo? What I am trying to build is a powerful steering servo for a large RC car. I can hack a normal servo to up it’s current capacity to drive a bigger motor using the original feedback pot from the servo but I would like to have that 40 amps of headroom.

Our Speed Controller can not accept feedback data. You can send feedback from a pot to our Robot Controller analog input. You can then write your own code to control the Speed Controller based on the feedback data.
