Field questions

we don’t have a field yet and I have a couple of questions, do the mobile goals have a rounded bottom, and how hard is it to flip them over, also how hard is it to put a ring on a stake, will a gravity scorer work? thank you.

  1. Do the mobile goals have a rounded bottom?

Kind of. It is slightly round in a way which you can roll it on its bottom slightly.

  1. How hard is it to flip them over?

Somehow, the Mobile goals are in a way that they can somehow straighten up when toppled around ~110 degrees on its side (unusual if you ask me). Once you manage to get after that number, it will flip over.

  1. How hard is it to put a ring on a stake?

Not easy. Unlike Tipping Point, the ring doesn’t directly fall under. It usually needs a sort of push on the top to get it in, due to the pointy arrow at the top.

  1. Will a gravity scorer work?

If you go on youtube (I’ll leave that for you to research), many teams have done this and are mostly successful.

Survivorship Bias on this

In addition to this, I would like to say this:
Only teams who have finished that type of robot have put the video online. Rarely will you find any teams who post their failures. If you see many people with a gravity scorer, don’t assume it’s an easy and extremely useful thing to do.

This is Survivorship Bias, as you are only looking at the successes at a working gravity scorer, not the possible hundreds who have failed.

Take your time to test it out and see if it might work for you and your team, not the rest of the world.
