Field Riser ideas

Hello,

I am looking for ideas for a field riser for an IQ field. I am not looking for anything wood as this is in a basement and don’t want it expanding. I have thought about metal bed frames but I have seen screw heads bumping over the frame which would make the top uneven. I’m not looking to spend more than $100-150. I’d like to keep it around 14-18”s off the ground. Any ideas/sources? What do they use at competitions to raise fields?

Here are all the plans from our organization…VRC and IQ, wood and metal, and the popular flip-up IQ field riser. Team Virus Field Riser Plans - Google Drive

You can also check out the commercial risers from Robosource.net

You might want to consider 5-gallon buckets and a couple sheets of OSB.

We use the ones in the plans above…but we’ll probably switch to the “portable robosource risers” because we need 3 more and I don’t have time to build them. At worlds, it’s commercial staging…well past your budget.

I met the same problem. I am considering the following ways:

  1. 4 2x6 feet folding tables (4*50=$200)
  2. ikea meiden twin size bed + full size bed ($59+$49, but need to cut the head of bed)

I saw a colleague use the plastic storage racks you can get from the hardware store; they only put them together one high and then put them together. I would say, they would move if you leaned on them, probably ok for practicing, but not good for competition.
