Field tiles warp when the field perimeter is set on them

(I am not sure where to post this)

Recently, I had just borrowed a friend’s portable field (since I was using the old metal field perimeter no longer standard) and for some reason, after installing it, the field tiles seemed to be oversized compared to the perimeter.

I am aware that the field perimeter should sit outside the field tiles, however, that seems to be easier said than done when trying it out like that. It took a lot of force to shove it in, and instead we get this curved tiles that look pretty off.

What can we try to do about it? There’s not much information about this on the Internet, just one post from 2015 that seems too vague to deduce a solution from.

Thank you

In really olden days, you needed to trim the field tiles to fit inside the perimeter. That changed a while back, and the metal perimeter lie on top of the field tiles.

Plastic perimeters also are set on top of perimeter:

I’ve had this happen a lot with anti-static tiles from the early batches of that product. They tended to be slightly larger than what would fit inside the portable field wall perimeter. The tiles purchased in later years fit without issue. If you have older antistatic tiles, this is probably what you are running into.

There are a few things you can do to deal with this. You could purchase new tiles, which should not have a problem fitting. You can leave a couple of the corners of the field unclipped at the bottom, giving the tiles a bit more room to sit flush. Or you could cut off a portion of the teeth on the perimeter to allow the tiles to fit better.
