Final Call for Programming Skills Qualifying for Worlds

When will we know if we have qualified for Worlds? We are currently #14 in Programming Skills. There are many events that were held on March 3, 2012 that have not shown up on the programming skills page with scores.

Getting Antsy

The skills challenge scores have been finalized. Invitations to the winning teams were mailed out Tuesday evening. In case you have not seen the email, the information is listed below.

Skills Challenge Rankings are FINAL
We have been blown away by the increased demand for the skills challenges this year and the incredible performance and improvement by teams over the course of the season. We have been so impressed by the constantly improving scores, and have received so much great feedback from teams and event partners throughout the season, that we have two big announcements to make now that the rankings are final.

  1. We have been able to add a few pit spaces and increase the number of spots at the World Championship for the top skills challenge scores. As a result we are happy to announce that the scores posted and finalized by the March 4th deadline making teams eligible for the 2012 World Championship are 29 for the Robot Skills Challenge and 21 for the Programming Skills Challenge. The full global rankings can be viewed on the global skills ranking page. All teams with scores at or above those are now eligible to register for the 2012 World Championship. Congratulations to all the teams for their amazing work, progress and performance in the 2011-2012 VEX Robotics Competition Skills Challenges.

  2. During this competition season, we have received a great deal of feedback about the Programming Skills challenge, mainly that it’s not enough of a challenge for “Programming” and that programmers would like to show off their skills more. We are in agreement and have come up with a revised Programming Skills Challenge for the World Championship – you can find the new World Championship Programming Skills Challenge appendix (H) here: There are two or three simple changes to the field layout and rules for the Programming Skills Challenge, but these changes should provide more of a challenge to the programmers (and reduce the number of pesky hands messing with your incredible machines and programs). So go ahead and turn your programmers loose, they’ve got a full 6 weeks before the World Championship to get ready.

I hope this helps.

Thanks so much. I did get the email. Time to fund raise quick!
