I sometimes look at the robots other people make and they have spacers between the c-channels, use spacers everywhere and generally have some designs that I don’t understand… what principles of design do you follow when building? where do you learn this kind of stuff? mostly i’m referring to 938a’s robot

Spaces between C channels aren’t rare, they’re added to prevent bent edges of the c channels (something that will often happen considering how aggressive some matches can be), I’ll link a video about how to improve your building skills/tips for building, and common build habits here.
