Flywheel Dying after spinning for a bit

So, I’m fairly new and the flywheel that our team build at first spun really fast and then after a while, it just stopped spinning and we had to wait a bit before it started spinning again, can anyone help us out

How many motors are you using?
Are they V5 or 393’s?
What is the gear ratio?

You might have to much friction, or the motors just overheated or tripped or something. If it runs long enough for a match you might be fine.

They’re two 393 motors and I’m pretty sure they just tripped, just wanted to know how to stop them from going too fast.

You could slow them down from the code.
You also could put a sensor to measure the rotations of the flywheel, and once it reaches the amount of rpm that you want you could turn the motors off. You would need a ratchet in the gear box for this work, but it lets the motors run less so they last longer. I think the kind of code for that is called bang bang if you want to look it up.

a simple fix is have a half power button to idle your flywheel at 60 percent the take it up to 100% for shooting. We added some grease to ours and it made a massive difference also
