Food Vendors at VEX Worlds

Hey guys, this is our first year going to Worlds. We are looking for options to eat lunch and dinner. I saw on the Worlds webpage that one option is getting food vouchers for $24 a meal. I also saw that you can’t use cash in the convention center. Besides inside the convention center what restaurants are within walking distance?

We were at worlds last year. There is a place within walking distance (about 0.3 mi) called “The Exchange.” We went here for lunch every day, and it was very good, particularly due to the variety of restaurants. I would recommend this place. If you want somewhere else, I am sure there are more restaurants in walking distance. Good luck at worlds and have fun!

There are definitely restraints in walking distance, I forgot which ones specifically, but I think there was a fried chicken restaurant and others nearby. You can also just straight up buy from the vendors even without a voucher, but the convention food was really mid last year with few options, and the chips with the meals were also really mediocre.

Our favorite place is The Exchange just 8 minutes away. Great variety of food and good food overall.

a simple Google maps would do for this question.

This makes me sad.

This makes me sad too…

You can just Duck Duck / Google / Bing “restaurants near kay bailey center” and it shows you 14 places within a mile walk of the event. You have all of the best information for things like this in your hand (since you entered the forum and asked this) Like the forum, search will be your friend.

My team has visited Cindi’s NY deli for a quick breakfast but they do really well with big groups and have great food Im unsure about price since I was with a school but its a really good atmosphere.

While convention center vendors can be an option, adventuring to find new restaurants makes the trip so much better. (If you have the right group and your schedule permits it. We are from a fairly rural area and often have a few kids who have never been out of the state.)

I’ve heard good things about all the restaurants in front of the Omni (I can personally recommend Pegasus Pizza), but they can get quite busy at the lunch rush. We would often walk a bit further. There is a McDonalds about 0.4 miles up S. Griffin St. for picky team members who don’t like trying new places. One of my favorite places is Twisted Trompos on Commerce St. We’ve eaten there once (or twice) each year - 0.5 mile walk) We’ve even walked south across I-30, but there are fewer options in that direction.

Check your favorite map program, zoom in (not all results show up until you do), read reviews, and check hours… we walked to one place only to realize that it was breakfast and dinner only (for the neighboring hotels)… doubled back and actually ate at the courthouse cafeteria. They had a chain BBQ joint at the time. Mediocre BBQ, but an interesting experience with our group of kids
