Fundraising

My students did a pretty cool fundraiser here recently. As self proclaimed nerds, we enjoy “nerdy” movies. So we bought out a theatre for a movie we all wanted to see and then sold all the tickets to mostly the student body of our school. Our cost was $12.50 per ticket and we sold them at $20 for a pre-screening of “The Hobbit” two days before it opened. Our school tennis team has done movies as well and have found better deals if they shop around to different theatres. We were able to sell 246 of 271 tickets, netting us a cool $1500. If marketed right you can make money, but depending on the theatre they can ask for the whole cost up front. Luckily ours let us pay as we made the money. We will definitely do it again.
