If you could, what game would you like to play from the past (or play again) and what ideas do you have for that game that you wouldn’t have had then? For me, I would have loved to play Nothing but Net with a 360-degree rotational flywheel and a 2 sided intake on an x-drive.
I know, TOTALLY! I’ve wanted to play Nothing But Net ever since I learned to code. Not sharing my ideas though, in case we get a similar enough game in the future ( ). I’ve also wanted to play Gateway, mostly cause it was an awesome game. But Tower Takeover is a lot like Gateway so…
Clean Sweep. I would use a large scoop and fling the objects over at the last second like what the 8000 teams did in star struck
If it was a new game (but old game) i would want to play bridge battle because I would have a huge advantage over everyone else, but if it was a repeat definitley ITZ bc I have been thinking about it for a long time (after it was over) and came up with a really good design.
How would you have an advantage? (leekz)
Different intake system?
I would have an advantage because although a lot of mechanisms from the real world are in vex, I would know a lot more mechanisms to use, and how to use them effectively than most competitors. For example, I would know how to make a good dr4b. I would also have 4/5 years of experience (started in nbn), while everyone else would be new to vex. This is, of course, assuming that I traveled back in time, and the game wasn’t just repeated because repeating a game is less likely than time travel.
A flywheel that uses position tracking and pid to make sure that the flywheel is always facing the goal and every time u intake a ball u can immediately fire it with no repercussions.
Exactly my idea. Maybe set a home position with your start position and fire away from there.
If I were to go back and play one of the old games I would be glad to play Gateway, Sack attack, Round up, or Toss up. Now if I had to choose from the more recent games I would take ITZ in a heartbeat since now I actually have the experience to enjoy the full scope of that wonderful game.
I started in TP, and want to play SS…
SS was the game I hated the most. It was soooooo boring because every single robot was just a big 2 bar dump clawbot (besides a few dr4bs and stuff) and It was way too easy. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to play it.
Nothing but net or Star Struck because of the HUGE CLAWS
Starstruck. The back and forth nature of the game had so much audience value without the heavy (and almost broken) defense in Turning Point. Amazing game IMO.
I didn’t rly like star struck as a concept (my first season was itz btw). I rly like tha games with direct interplay between opponents. Also kinda don’t like tha auton line, I get why it’s there but I kinda wanna make self correcting autons lol
Edit: auto correct
I’d like another crack at Gateway, but scaled for VIQC.
I started competing with In The Zone, but I dabbled in Starstruck. I wish I could go back with what I know now and have another season of starstruck.
Turning point, because i wanted to try some diferent mechanisms (We relied heavily on our driving that year, which I must say we were proud of…) It was a fun year because it was our first year shooting stuff, and we were way better than the last year (ITZ, we got dead last in state, and most robots there got carried there and stank.) I saw at least 7 clawbots and our pairings were bad too.
I think that elevation would be cool to play, it with higher goals and a more competitive parking aspect.
I started participating in VEX during the sack attack season, and graduated playing starstruck. If I were to go back and play any VRC game, it would be toss up, which I believe to be one of the best VRC games ever made. I don’t think I would have changed anything about my team’s robot as it was simple, and reliable.
