Gear ratio issues

hello and thanks for reading my team and I are having troubles with our ratios its 3 48 tooth gears in the middle and 2 24 tooth gears on the ends its powred by two blue motos one works but the ohter doest when its by its self it works but when combeined with the other gears it justs stops We have zero clue whats going on we saldy cant post photo or video just ask for more deatalis if needed also sorry about the spelling im in a hurry

If you need an answer in a hurry, the vexforum is definitely not the best option for that. Try the VTOW discord server.

To answer your question though, it is probably due to a couple of issues:

  1. Assuming your drivetrain looks like the diagram below, if your blue motors are spinning 2 48t gears adjacent to each other, they have to spin opposite directions, and if they are anchored to 2 48t gears not adjacent to each other, they have to spin the same direction.
  2. Putting blue motors on the 48t gear will make your drivetrain insanely fast and have very little torque, so your acceleration will be slow. If you used the smallest wheel size, that’s still over 170 in/sec. Always gear down the speed of 600rpm motors.

Most likely due to your description it is the first one. But I still would recommend changing your build because of #2.

if possible, could u make a diagram of teh gears and wheels and motor placement? this would help us figure out your issue.

However, it is probably how @Gigahertz.t said that it is going extremely fast which is likely the problem. also 24 tooth gears are extremely heavy and that prob causes a ton of friction on your 1200 rpm drive. I would definitely reccomend going for 300-600 rpm on your drivetrain. if u keep ur 1200 rpm ur accelleration and torque (strength) would be extremely low and right now it doesnt accelerate so basically it just doesnt spin and get even close to full speed.
also i would definitely recomend a 4-6 motor drivetrain and watching youtube drivetrain tutorials to learn more about tips fo building drivetrains.

dont mean to post twice but i think the easiest and quickest fix for u is to add more motors and switch to 200 rpm motors

thanks everyone fixed the issue
