i know that the idler gear in between two gears wont affect the ratio just the direction it turns but if you stick a 36 tooth gear in between a 60 and a 12 tooth will it burn the gears out less:confused:
Are you asking whether or not it will physically wear down the gears less? If so then I would say in the long run yes. Every time you move power from one gear to the next you lose something like 2% of the power.
yeah, but not much i think. If you look in the inventors guide of the chain and sproket kit, it says that 95% of the energy is transfered when chain is used, but only 85% of energy is transfered through when gears are used.
