Gen2 Brain Freeze 🥶

I just received Gen2 kits to replace our Gen1 kits. I charged all batteries in controllers and brains. I then paired brains and controllers. I connected the brains to the laptop to check firmware status. Brains and controllers connect without an issue and firmware was confirmed up-to-date.

Problem:
After downloading and running a simple one line project file a few times I get stuck where the system says “Loading Python System Files” or if I don’t get that message I simply can’t run the program I just downloaded into the brain. The brain and VECcode App freezes and I have to pull the battery, kill the app and start over. This happens if I’m connected either directly via the USB cable or wirelessly via USB cable to the controller.

I’m using a new Windows 11 HP laptop.

I found one thread in the V5 Tech Support that sounded similar but no solution was ever posted. Appreciate any help!

Just one brain ?

system files (the Python VM) should only need to be downloaded once.

You could try “delete all files” from the settings screen to force Python to be reinstalled. If it’s just one brain and this doesn’t help contact vex support and get that one replaced.

I got 4 new kits. Problem exists on 2 that I’ve tried so far. I will try the others and try you suggestions. Stay tuned…

Sorry for the slow response, been out of town.
So…. I fired up the laptop and took another shot at working with the new Gen2 brains and controllers. This time, for no apparent reason, the brains, controllers and the VEXcode app did not freeze as they did before. I went ahead and forced another firmware and Python System files update under the tools menu just for good measure. 2 of the 4 kits needed firmware updates out of the box. At this point all is good.

Thanks for the engagement and advice.
