Basically, my problem is that none of the current vision things can really achieve what I want to do, so I want to write my own vision system, but to be able to make it work, I need to be able to get images from the sensor to process. How would I do that?
TL;DR: You can’t.
The RS-485 bus that the V5 system runs on is far too slow for sending raw image data. And even if it was fast enough, there is no function in the Vision Sensor firmware to allow this.
There is no way to write your own vision system. Believe me, our team tried. We eventually gave up on using the sensor because of this.
