Golf Cart at worlds

I know that most teams use carts to transport their robots at worlds. The team was having a discussion and wondered about the legality of bringing something like a golf cart to drive around in at worlds, since the venue is so large. When looking at the Policy for Use of Mobility Devices for worlds 2024 it didn’t appear to explicitly ban individuals without disabilities from using transportation devices, only saying that they could not have more than one person in each. Because of this, we pivoted, wondering if something like a Razor scooter would be prohibited. The only reason I see that we wouldn’t be allowed to do it is the fact that we are not disabled. If anyone knows anything else about this subject I would love to know. To all those who qualified, good luck at worlds, and to anyone else, good luck in the 2024-2025 season.

Welcome to Vex Forums. I would not bring a golf cart or a scooter. the venue is spread out yes but it takes 10 min max to walk from the far pits to the furthest division fields. Most teams bring a wagon to move their robot something that my team did that worked very well last year. a golf cart or scooter will most likely not be allowed into the venue as if many teams did this it would cause a legitimate traffic jam. I would suggest getting a wagon like this I wish you luck and hope to see you at worlds if you are in high school.

Save your checked luggage for something else. Scooters / golf carts won’t be allowed.

+1 for the wagons, teams have used them for years. But your move is to make arrangements to have Amazon ship yours to your hotel (check first). Then it’s not clogging up your baggage. Last two years I’ve ordered one for the JROTC team that I support, with instructions on how to get it to the next teams (in prior years it was a MS VRC and they got instructions on how to get it to the ES VIQ teams and they got a sheet to mark it for delivery to RECF HQ. I don’t know if it made it to RECF, or a dumpster. But three teams got to use it.)

The team will, probably, have no problems getting around Worlds, fueled by all the excitement of seeing other roboteers and high calorie snacks available from vendors at the expo.

But if they still dream of automation then, paraphrasing @Foster, Just Build Stronger Robots :tm:

There was a guy at Worlds 2017, who built a human transporter out of VEX EDR parts:

There are more videos (around 2017) in his YT channel and more info in this topic:
