Hey all,
Us here on WPI0 recently finished our scouting system for Turning Point, so we thought we would make a version of it for VRC. From what we have seen, many VRC teams rely on either watching matches and scribbling down notes on pieces of paper, which is not the best way to keep track of more than a few robots. It is also difficult to see all of your information at a glance, or find the specific information you need with such a strategy. As a result, we believe that the VRC community could benefit from Gompei Scouter, named after WPI’s mascot, as a possible solution to its scouting needs. Gompei Scouter is designed as a companion to other resources like vexdb and vexvia, which we are aware that many teams use. It is a good companion to it as it gives its users a place to keep track of the capabilities of each robot, which they simply are unable to do. The capabilities Gompei Scouter keeps track of include caps and flags scored, where a robot can shoot from, a robot’s auton routine, and many more. Here’s what Gompei Scouter does with the information collected:
MATCH LOOKUP
If you enter the match#, round#, and Event SKU#, the spreadsheet will return which teams are in that match, as well as the information gathered on each of those teams. However, as this feature relies on the vexdb API, internet is needed.
TEAM LOOKUP
When a team number is entered, the spreadsheet returns information on that team, no internet required.
AUTON LOOKUP
When a team number is entered, the autons recorded from that team are returned
STATISTICS
The Spreadsheet automatically calculates the average of each capability for each team recorded. This gives a general idea about how the teams stack up relative to each other
If you’d like to use our spreadsheet, feel free to make a copy of the master. If you would like to see an example of how it works, take a look at our example.
If you need any help using it, or have any features you would like to see added, feel free to let me know
