I’ve been thinking about doing a tray bot, which would use 7 motors without a strafing wheel and a 2m drive. A strafing wheel would be nice but not completely necessary. I was wondering if anyone had any other good or just unique uses for this extra motor.
Try making a 3rd wheel in the center as a straight line booster so you can have a 3 motor drive without strafe. Or you could add another motor to your lift/other subsystem that could be sped up,but I highly advise against a 2 motor drive.
if you do a straight line booster, maybe put it in the very back so that if the front of the robot tips up a bit you still get traction.
I’d imagine you have a lift on your traybot correct? I would guess that is what the last 2 motors are used on(2m drive, 1m tilter, 2m intake, 2m lift). If so, then I would try to make your lift 1m so that you can have a 4m drive.
Either you could do a 3m drive (either 1 with strafe or just 3 for more power) plus a 2m lift 1m tilter and 2m intake - Or a 4m drive 1m lift (2bar like goofy) 1m tilter and 2m intake.
Like @Gameoa said, you should use a 1 motor lift. You are just wasting a motor if you use a 2 motor lift (other than a DR4B, that’s acceptable). You really don’t need 2 motors on your lift if it is designed well. If it has trouble lifting, just use some banding. Then, with that extra motor, make a 4 motor drive. This year we have a 4 motor drive, and it is really useful for avoiding people pushing you. If you want something holonomic, I would recommend not using a h-drive because they are really unreliable. Use a x-drive or mecanum drive. If you don’t want to do any of this, you could add it to your tilter to make it more powerful. Another use for the extra motor is some sort of scissor lift attached to the side of your bot to use for defence. I saw a team that did that and was really effective to defend the unprotected zone. I hope this helps!
Cube flywheel. That is all I have to say about that.
I was thinking about when the tray expands, it launches a cube and messes up the other team’s autonomous, but I wasn’t sure that that was legal.
I think it’s illegal, BUT
You’d need a pretty high accuracy to do that, and at that point you should just be a cube catapult
This has become good uses for last years launchers thread
a high tower cube remover if u cant reach it already
I remember teams used to do that in ITZ when theyd launch their preload at the other team.
It’s illegal this year though
Sweeper arm pretty good. just open it up and shove all the cubes to your side
