so this is that rule that makes me sad:
<SG6> Robots may not intentionally grasp, grapple or attach to any Field Elements or the opposing Mobile Goals. **Strategies with mechanisms that react against multiple sides of a Field Element **in an effort to latch onto said Field Element are prohibited. The intent of this rule is to prevent Teams from both unintentionally damaging the field and/or from anchoring themselves to the field. Minor violations of this rule that do not affect the Match will result in a warning. Match Affecting offenses will result in a Disqualification. Teams that receive multiple warnings may also receive a Disqualification at the Head Referee’s discretion.
But wait, lets take a closer look at the bold part:
**Strategies with mechanisms that react against multiple sides of a Field Element **
Circles only have one side…
Loophole confirmed?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!??!?!?!?!?!?

Mathematically, it is more accurate to represent a circle as having infinite sides, so really you can not touch it at all.
I did have this one thought though where if you could pick up the opponent’s mobile goal with a flat surface (if that would be considered one side), you could place it on the corner of the perimeter of your own 20pt zone, making it so it is impossible for the opponent to retrieve it since they can’t enter your own scoring zone. Would that be considered legal since it isn’t actually in your own 20pt zone?

Isnt there a rule about putting it in your zone?
Does the perimeter count as the 20 point zone or is it only the foam tile?
Only the tile as far as i know.
why not just figure out a way to flip their goals onto their sides right at the start…
Because it’s still possible for them to flip them back over while the corner solution I was talking about would be permanent? Idk it was just an idea.
We were actively pursuing that strategy before learning from some teams that the mobile goals have a tendency to self-right.
i don’t even think you can tip over a mobile goal, they tend to self right, i read this in someone else’s thread, having not touched the playing objects myself, i cant offer any advice other than they seem extremely bottom heavy
