H drive or X drive better?

Dont know which drivebase to start with, any ideas

x drive is more complex with better pay off and 1 less motor, but h drive is simpler and a little less convenient. overall imo x drive better

To be honest, if you need help deliberating on this, and if you want something simple to start with, you should probably just go tank drive. x-drive is pretty hard to do, and h is easier, but has a few problems. One, it uses 5 motors. also, it only uses 1 motor to strafe, which means strafe is going to be slow and weak. While it sounds great, you should probably just use tank or mecanum, or x if you are confident you can build it right.

Just build a tank drive and save yourself the rebuild

no option for both?

like they both have pros and cons that I don’t really know what is going to be better yet. No one knows really.

You can turn accurately with either tank or X drive in manual drive mode, but X is probably better for turning in autonomous, which may be important to aim for high goal in Spin Up. But I agree with others that tank is better for beginners and easier to build.
