Having trouble installing the mastercode.

Alright, so we’ve setup our hardware by:

  1. Attaching the Cortex MCU to our MS Windows 7 machine w\ easyC installed + all the drivers that came with it. We haven’t recieved the actual software yet so we are using the trial version. It is attached via USB.

  2. The EasyC V4 Programmer recognizes the Vex Cortex and that the master code is not installed. We run the VEXnet Firmware Upgrade Utility found https://vexforum.com/wiki/index.php/Software_Downloads and upgrade the firmware in both the cortex and the joystick.

  3. We tether the joystick and controller together.

  4. We attempt to program the device through easyC and get the same error that the master code has not been updated.

Sorry if I haven’t provided enough information. Feel free to ask anything.

You need to use the firmware update utility included with EasyC rather than the one on the VEX wiki (which is out of date for the latest EasyC). EasyC 4.0.2.8 needs firmware 3.17. You can override the system check in the options menu but you may as well update. Goto the start menu and find the utility under the Intelitek (or is it EasyC, I forget) program menu.

More info on current firmware versions here.

Oh xd, I was linked to the wiki via the manual for an updated list of the software. Someone should put a note there or something, lol.

Thanks again jpearman.
