Height Limit Question

My teams robot has an elevator to dump the blocks into the different containers. It fits in the length width and height limits while the elevator is down, but when lifted up it goes over the height limit. Is this violating the rule if it’s done during the round?

The inspection people at my last competition told me that there is an infinite y-axis (or vertical) expansion limit, but there is a horizontal one. If the elevator fits in size limits when it’s down, it’ll be ok and it’s not violating the rules as far as I’m aware. You should probably still check the game manual though, because it probably covers this in more detail, but your elevator shouldn’t violate the rules.

OMG thank you!!! I know that was the case with the “Fling” competition 2 years ago, i just wasnt sure if the rules changed or anything. TYSM!!

Google: Vex IQ Current Game (This is my go-to year after year.)

Click on manual near the bottom of the page.

Crtl+f

Search for: Height

You will get your answer in much less time and be assured of its accuracy. You will also accidentally learn a couple of other things along the way.

Best part of reading the entire manual a few times, you learn something new on each pass.

I recommend that actually
What can I say ctrl f really works
That’s just what the inspection people told me though felt like I should share what I found

Neither @sankeydd or I was downplaying your post. Lots of us like @lacsap @EngineerMike @meng @kmmohn and especially @jpearman never pass up a chance to remind roboteers to read and use the manual. It’s more important than ever that they read it now if they haven’t because events are starting and disqualifying teams at inspection is the worst.
