My battery went dead and instead of it flashing red, it appeared with one green dot and one red dot. It has done this before too on a separate battery. I proceeded to charge it 10 minutes later and it no longer had one red and one green, but 2 greens even though it died and shut down the robot because it was dead. Anyone have any info on how to fix this, or is it something I should be concerned about or do I replace it ? …
Get the “battery medic” and see what it says: https://kb.vex.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035590212-Using-the-V5-Battery-Medic
This is a pretty good resource in the event there is a light pattern that seems out of the ordinary.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! Not until you’ve tried using the battery medic. You need to diagnose what’s wrong if possible before erasing all the diagnostic information! These batteries are $70 a piece, not just cheap radio-shack batteries.
Dear VEX engineering team - please place a tamper tape over the reset button to discourage frustrated users from using it before running Battery Medic and working with VEX Support team.
ugh… Also, VEX team, for the future of the planet, can we have a battery in which you guys can replace cells in the battery to prolong battery life? I know in present battery it is virtually impossible to mend a battery.
It would be nice if VEX placed a sticker around reset button directing people to learn more about using Battery Medic prior to pushing the button. For example, in the form of a QR code:
However, I doubt VEX could afford the expense of a sticker or user replaceable cells due to the profitary constraints, since the current system works great for them…
So, I would suggest for the active alliances to print stickers, directing students to a vendor agnostic user-friendly resource like BLRS Wiki and distributing those as freebies to all teams at the competitions.
It is going to serve both as an outreach activity educating novice teams about best practices and, also, as a way of promoting their alliance or a team.
Robosource might want to include these stickers in their shipment to teams. They are very VEX community friendly!
