Hi guys.
Our team recently got some trouble regarding choosing a lift. We are kind of debating which lifts to do.
Our top lifts at present are the chain bar, cone chain bar (if there is any difference) , and 4 bar or 6 bar.
Could you help me with what lift to choose and what overall (does not have to be in this lift) lift do you think is the best?

Do NOT go with the 6 bar, and try to stay away from the 4 bar. Assuming your strategy is internal stacking, you would want to use a linear lift, such as a DR4B or using a cascaded lift (don’t do that please). What does seem to work well with few part is the short, single stage linear lift with a chain bar on top shoutout to 929U This lift can be very smooth if you don’t make it with linear slides. Overall, try to come up with a linear lift design.
I have no idea how a “cone chain bar” is different from a chain bar, but a chain bar looks like a pretty good choice, especially for new teams. How are you going to stack? Are you going to carry the mobile goals with you as you are stacking? If so, a 4-bar or a 6-bar simply will not work, but a chain bar would be great.
The best strategy this year is scoring with mobile goals. A four bar lift is good for this, as long as you have the proper end-effector for lifting the mobile goal. Just make sure that your arm is strong enough. Two motors with a 5:1 gear ratio should do the trick. Keep in mind that you will have less space for cone capabilities if you go with the four bar.
IF using a four bar for the mobile goal just make sure that it is able to collapse. I’m running a fourbar and it has about a 1/2in. to 3/4in. clearance for stacking when collapsed. Zach’s bot is good but optimising the clearance for the mobile goal to get more cones out of a stationary chainbar.
You are building a lift for cones right? Do you want to do internal stacking or external stacking? Like others said, it makes a big difference, so you should choose a strategy and then a lift design.
I use an 8 bar and it works pretty well. Sort of
Marlborough Middle School or High School?
I highly recommend checking out ALBA’s OSIZR robot seen here: OSIZR by ALBA Reveal - YouTube
Because it is so early in the season, and I’m assuming you are fairly new in Vex, this design can probably be pretty effective, especially in SNE Middle School. I highly discourage doing a dr4b or some variant, despite the hype others are putting on it. It is very difficult to get right and built well, especially for inexperienced teams. If you are really craving some more height than what that design gives you, then put it on a 4 bar or something. Keep it simple.

I recommend a chain bar, or a DR4B. if you want to quickly stack while driving, and don’t care too much about the stack height, I’d go with a chain bar. if you’d rather spend a little more time on each cone, but be able to stack really high, I’d go for a DR4B. although it is pretty difficult, you could also do a 4-bar with a chain bar mounted on top, facing the opposite direction, so if you move both the 4-bar and the chain bar, it acts as a DR4B, but if you only move the chain bar, it acts as a lone chain bar.
Thanks guys
