Help with linear slides

I am trying to use the plastic on metal linear sliders that vex makes for an anti tip mechanism, but I find that the metal part pops out from the plastic part very easily (thank you for making your parts out of plastic vex  ). Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Could you post a picture of exactly the problem (I’m a visual learner hard to comprehend text to image)

Which types of linear slide trucks are you using? The outer ones are more prone to pop out. The first image is the outer truck, and the other is the inner truck, which is less prone to popping out, although it may not slide as well.https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vexrobotics.com%2Fmedia%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct%2Fcache%2F1%2Fimage%2F9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95%2F2%2F7%2F276-4489-outer.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vexrobotics.com%2F276-4489.html&tbnid=i7eW9g0LK_06tM&vet=12ahUKEwjF0JXYor7nAhVOR6wKHSYGDV0QMygFegUIARDUAQ..i&docid=oDnO_j3cS7oZoM&w=950&h=950&q=Vex%20linear%20slide%20trucks&safe=strict&ved=2ahUKEwjF0JXYor7nAhVOR6wKHSYGDV0QMygFegUIARDUAQ

I am using the first image. I have never even seen the parts in the second image. Do you know a way to decrease the chance of the slider popping out using the part in the first image?

You might be able to create an assembly around the slide that ā€œcagesā€ the metal portion in, essentially making it impossible to pop out.

That is exactly what I was planning on doing, but I just wanted to come here to see if anyone had come up with any other solutions.

Did you buy the linear slide kit? It should have come with both types of slides.

We got some new stuff at the beginning of this season but the majority of our stuff is like 5+ years old so we may have them, but probably not.

You can use the exiting linear slide parts to construct a ĀØcustomĀØslide, which will not allow the metal to pop out. It’s very simple and strong if you do it right.
You’ll have to figure out that part yourself though

For us, we always stick to the ā€˜inner’ linear slides rather than the outer. If you don’t have any inner, maybe put it so that rather than the metal being upside down, have the track below so that if it pops out, the metal would have to go up rather than down?
