Hero bot for rapid relay

As of making this post, the hero bot for rapid relay has not been released. I was wondering when it will be as I feel it will be a good starting point for my team as we have no clue on how to make a catapult. I would really appreciate any information on the release date

Hi! I’m in America, (so it might not be the same for you,) but the hero bot should be out by the end of the month. The notebooks for this year will be released by the end of the month, (so should the bot,) and if I’m not mistaken something to do with fields will be out by the end of this week.

(I’m terribly sorry if I’m wrong, but I checked with one of our head coaches, so this should be (HOPEFULLY) accurate information.)

I’ll take responsibility for this one. I made the decision to delay some of the documentation for release to ensure nothing was rushed out the door. Instructions like these are crucial to get right.

I promise we are working feverishly to get all of the necessary supporting documentation out ASAP. We have multiple people working to finalize and review the instructions for release.

We have already identified ways in our process to streamline the production of these documents for the future, and hope this is not an issue again. Believe it or not, the documentation side of Game Development can be the most time-intensive portion of the cycle.

You have definitely made the right decision, most people won’t have their kits for a while (shipping am I right) so when they do they can have accurate build instructions!

Appreciate the attention to detail, but there are schools that are finished before Memorial Day, so sooner would definitely be better than later…especially the field build directions.

Take a look at the Fling Bot from the Pitching In game a few years ago, I am going to guess that the Hero Bot for this year will be similar.

I do think the robot would indeed look very similar to the fling bot, but you would have to make quite a few adjustments so that way it can fit the massive ball which is similar in size next to the big red blocks from full volume. The fling bot would be a good start early on, but might be tricky to adjust. This is just what I think and you can do whatever fits your schedule or lifestyle. Anywho, I am very excited once the hero bot finally comes out! :thinking:

Did anyone see the Hero bot on the “Download” drop down, “Build Instructions” tab over last weekend 18-19 May? The link went nowhere and the page was gone on Monday, 20 May.

Can VEX release the Hero bot CAD file immediately? For those of us who are using CAD, we can figure out the build instructions pretty quickly one our own.

I mean no offence and I wish to direct this to everyone asking this question but what do you think will change? It will release when it releases and replying to threads that have been inactive for a while will not help

He directed to Bailey who is working on it ASAP. School ends here in a week and mentors are scrambling to get roboteers set up for the summer to get them building and thinking.

Relighting a 15 day post isn’t that unusual, people often write to posts that have been dormant for almost a year.

The loss of the DM feature has made it hard to reach out to people.

Not sure if you understand how this works but there have been numerous posts on this thread so hardly should be called “inactive”. As Foster noted above I replied to the post about them actively working on things directly. You might not like it but yes, REC should be reminded that their customers are waiting. 15 days without another update shouldn’t be acceptable. VRC hero bot was released over a week ago I believe.

The hero bot videos are released on YouTube but it looks like the build instructions still aren’t available (at least I couldn’t find them as of this posting and doing some quick searching).

21 days since the last update. How are things looking? Maybe release the CAD at least?

I want to reiterate my apologies here. It was “ready” to go at one point 2 weeks ago, but we unfortunately caught a few errors late in the process that had to be corrected before the build could be released. The Hero Bot built from instructions will look slightly different than the Robot shown in the YouTube videos, but is similarly capable in all aspects of the game.
