Are any of the new Large HexBug parts allowed in the Official VEX IQ Challenge?

ahh. I found the answer with the handy Search button… http://www.vexiqforum.com/forum/vex-iq-challenge-discussion/viqc-new-game-2014-2015-game/official-viqc-highrise-q-a/4340-hexbugs-pieces
Hummmm. Is anyone using these parts in their Challenge Robots this season? If so…which ones are being used and how is your team using them?
Been to a few events. Haven’t seen any of these parts used.
I think right now, the markets are separate. So there is no overlap. I would expect the Hexbug market to expand more to kids that use IQ at school, and then the market will overlap more, and we’ll see the pieces in robots.

I looked at it once before summer. Per rules Hexbug parts are allowed but that only applies to these plates. As long as you only use the few plates that are common. Now that you can order plates of different colors, one of them might even match those hexbug colors. Did not look at it further than that but do wonder what colors they have. Other pieces are not allowed.
There are some useful parts, but nothing that you can’t do without. A couple longer shafts, a couple longer connectors, 24 & 48 tooth gears, and a lot of odd parts that could be very handy if you have just the right application. We have the full Hexbug kit, but right now are only using 1 of the longer shafts in our robot.
All but the electrical elements are allowed.
Yup, we know about the rule regarding the electric parts. We just haven’t needed to use anything except for the long shafts, so far.
I went for the 4-1 kit. I’m working using the spider legs to support omni wheels, Kneel down to pick a block, rise up to place it. The bigger components leave lots of room to work, Love the turntable that is part of the Spider. Ant legs look good for moving cubes into a loading platform, the drive train is very nice.
The parts add lots of flash to the base robot.
Our kids used parts from the bug kits. They used them in the claw for their first bot this season. They have since moved to another design, which does not use any bug specific parts.
Our Vex IQ team wants to use parts from the HexBug kits called Build Genius “Gear Racer Pull Back Car” and “Zip Flyer”. Are these legal for competitions?
According to Rule R6D, All Rubber bands and electrical components are illegal for use.
Just ordered a stack of Hexbug kits from VEX, they have a 30% off event going on and free FedEx ground shipping. Should help round out the parts selection.
All the parts in the Zip flyer and the Carr are legal except for the rubber bands as noted above.
Not sure what you’ll do with the flying props from the Zip flyer, remember the rule about intentional parts detachment, so you can’t have them fly off.
Just got my latest parts of hex bug parts. Lots of arm extensions, looks like some 4 bar linkages in my teams future.
