High School Regions

Hey there, I wanted to ask which teams are the top 3 within the regions similar to what lyncas from team 2587 did last year. So the rules will be the same. Try to add a description of the teams you choose.

RULES:

1. region is defined as a State of the USA, or a Country.
2. Try to limit to only 3 teams, use the quote box and bold to highlight teams
3. Please don’t pick your team/school

I’ll start:

From Puerto Rico: (about 13 teams from high school)
2243A: They build great robots with a combination of ridiculously great driving.
2205A: The pioneers always give a good representation from Puerto Rico with consistent robots
2213: The teams from this school always gives a battle in a match and just like 2205, they give a great representation.

[X-Factor]

From Wisconsin and Illinois tournaments

1200: I am partial but our club wins most of the tournaments finalists in all of them
2177: They will be in high school next year but they are amazing (look at middle school nationals or their middle excellence from worlds
323Z: Does stuff all over the Vexforum and have made some great bots.

From the state of Georgia:
675A, 675B, and 675D: I have to choose my own school, GSMST, because, we have completely obliterated every competition we have been to. Also most other teams in the region who have been successful have copied our idea, although none seem to be as successful.
5203: This team is able to hold and score large numbers of sacks very quickly. This team usually seemed to win every match they played against non GSMST teams.
1961B: This team is definently the best copy of the GSMST design that we have seen so far. They are able to score relatively fast and can empty a trough extremely quickly.

[The_VEX_Raptors]

These are in no particular order. Many of the teams here in Michigan are very close in skill.

39- This team has been in the finals at many of the tournaments here, and has won a few of them. Their fast scoring and descoring make them hard to beat.
4540A- Their super-dumper can score 15-20 sacks at a time. They’ve had to carry us a few times, when our robot was less than fully functional (and did a great job of it), and they earned a title as State Champion at MSU.
37- This team can score efficiently in all of the goals (they can pack a lot of points onto the high goal), and while I have yet to see their descoring ability, they’re definitely a team to watch.

Here is the list of my top 3 teams from the New England area.

4886A-Very fast descore and all around great robot. Regional champions.

2625 - Another great efficiency robot that was regional champions along with 4886a

1615a - Had a slow start early season but is a force to be reckoned with.

Here are all the NZ teams qualified for worlds, along with how they qualified and some of their biggest achievements this season and in previous seasons. I’m not sure exactly how many of them will be coming (travel to Worlds from New Zealand is expensive) but I think most of them are. I’m pretty sure skills rankings are also not final.

2911A - Asia Pacific high school tournament champions.
2911C - 170 points in programming skills (5th worldwide).
Avondale College have always been a strong team within NZ, but they haven’t come to worlds in the last couple of years. Since they qualified early in the season this year they have been able to arrange sponsorship and they will have a team at worlds :).

2915A - NZ National champions, 360 points in robot skills (2nd worldwide).

2919A - Asia Pacific high school Excellence award.

2941B - 265 points in robot skills (17th worldwide).
2941D - NZ National champions, 260 points in robot skills (18th worldwide).
Gateway Math division champions

7682 - Asia Pacific middle school Design award, NZ Nationals middle school Excellence award.
A rookie team who also got the Innovate award at Asia Pacific and the Judges’ award at NZ Nationals. Wingus or Dingus on the forum.

FEAR - This will be their first time at worlds so they haven’t won anything yet, but their robots are very good. StimpNZ and Welshkiwi are both FEAR members.

Other people can say who they think the top three of these teams are, but since I ref at quite a few events in NZ I’d rather remain impartial.

5003 - Very solid bot. They have won two tournaments in Indiana (with us :p). They can pick up the sacks under the troughs extremely fast.

1193A - They have a giant claw that can descore a trough in seconds. They won the Excellence award at our first competition. They have been very consistent all year long.

Good stuff ! Thanks for starting this thread again, scouting with 400 vex teams is difficult ! So hopefully these discussions provide some unique perspectives about vex world teams.

From the great state of Texas (25 teams in the high school division) !

1. 231 - Team Pasadena is full of fast scoring efficiency bots with consistent autonomous, have won many events in Texas
2. 4000 - Omni Eagles made it to Semis at US Nationals , solid efficiency robots
3. **4252 ** - Pastoral Invasion won the design award 4 times this year ! they will be ready for worlds

From SF Bay Area (or just from tournaments we’ve attended):

5369: Even though they’re a middle school team, they’ve had an amazing showing at high school competitions throughout the season, coming out on top or really close to the top at every one that we’ve met them at. Their robot is really quick, has a great capacity, and in general is a pain to any team that has the misfortune of facing them. We have literally lost Championship awards because of them
8000A/B/C: C is a middle school team, A and B are high school teams. These guys are a presence wherever they go. They dominated early especially, getting qualifications for all three of their teams. Their robots are all really quick, really maneuverable, and really flexible. Not only are they a force to be reckoned with on the field, but also they have a great robotics program at their school.
254A/C/G: These guys have an amazingly well-structured robotics club at their school, and so they have accordingly well-made robots. They host an extremely competitive tournament every year where they traditionally dominate even the best teams in the area. This year they qualified two teams really early, and their Team G helped us qualify at a competition in Modesto partway through the season. Their robots are varied, but they are all solidly designed and difficult to beat.
5776: These guys had been really unlucky throughout the season until a few weeks ago. Their robot has always been solid, scoring reasonably well and have reasonable speed, but they were always unlucky enough to just fall short of qualification (sometimes because of us :P). However at a tournament 2 weeks ago they finally destroyed us to qualify for the first time. Definitely a team to be wary of.
404/A/B/D: Not really Bay Area per se, but we encountered them at a couple of tournaments we had down in Central CA. They did really well or something last year, I heard, and this year again they’re contenders for tons of awards at Worlds. They use their pieces very creatively and powerfully, utilizing apparatuses our team could never have imagined to completely dominate matches. All four of their teams are ones to look at.

Maryland has quite a few very competitive teams for sure.

If I had to choose 3 though, I would have to say

1. 24c, because… well it’s 24 we’re talking about. They’re just always great.
2. I would have to choose 1893b. They’re fast and they can score/descore effectively.
3. would have to be 929w. While, they’re design isn’t as effective now as it was in the begining of the season, they still always make it to the elimination rounds and do really well.
4. Also, I think 944b is worth mentioning

Nevada will be sending no high school teams but I will personally be there helping out and coaching Bots ‘n’ Stuff members.

I don’t know how helpful my post on the PNW region will be, but here goes:

Team 2 (Gladstone): Current World Champions and current World Finalists, they are a large presence in our region. They have 5 teams qualified for worlds currently: 2D, K, M, W, and Z. We’ve partnered with and against them to form potent alliances throughout the season.
Team 10/575 (Exothermic): 2010 World Finalists, they are also very competitive. I think right now 10B, D, Q, and 575 are qualified.
Team 1492 (WASABI): I know it’s not super classy to be tooting my own horn. Feel free to call me out on it. But I think we’ve done fairly well this season. We have three teams qualified, 1492A, X, and Z. Come visit our pit at Worlds; we won’t bite (Probably. I get cantankerous when I’m tired.).

There are lots of up-and-coming teams as well: Team 7784B (the Wookies) has qualified with a very strong, reliable shovel robot. (Sorry, but the only video I have is here.) The Isfield teams (1136) have been strong contenders for many tournament champion awards, most recently at the BCIT A division. The only video I know of for them is from early December.
