My team has noticed a Chinese loading technique where the robot climbs onto the loading station. We’ve heard much about it, and plan on trying out the design. But we’re not sure if it will stay legal for long. We can’t seem to figure it out. Does anyone know if Vex will keep this legal?Link to video of robot
Hi! According to Q&A 2052 and SG4d in the game manual, this method of loading is completely legal as long as it is timed properly. However, there will be a major game manual update on January 28th, which could include “gameplay or rule changes inspired by mid-season events”. I would recommend waiting 12 days in order to not waste time designing something illegal. However, if you choose to build it (now or then if it stays legal) then I would advise you to do it without using pneumatics to push the intake roller over the zone like in the video. Our team uses a slightly normal than higher bottom roller that is offset 1 pin forward and then 3 rubber bands in a ramp shape behind it in order to pick balls up in the zone and on the ground normally with no alterations.
